Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder – A McLaren Vale Brewery tour

Updated: Mar 26

Quench your thirst with a tour of McLaren Vale’s growing craft brewery scene. Whether it’s a summer pale ale or a winter stout, Partner N Wine has your guide to beer tastings all year round and has put together the best brewery tour.

Vale Ale Taphouse

Overlooking the Beresford vineyard, Vale Taphouse is a beautiful watering hole to wet the whistle, play some cornhole and listen to live music. During summer Vale Taphouse hold sunset sessions on the grass, creating a lovely family friendly atmosphere with acoustic music. Their Tropical Ale was awarded the Best Pale Beer at the 2022 World Beer Awards.

Kickback Brewery

The beachside suburb of Aldinga is home to one of the coolest breweries in South Australia. Kickback Brewery is a family-owned brewery that has reinvigorated the community. With quiz nights on Tuesdays and meat raffles on Fridays, this venue is popular among locals. Their “Good Folk” lager is an easy-drinking, watch the footy and yell at the umpire beer. Choosing a beer which pairs nicely with watching the footy is very important. Make the right decision, even if the umpire can’t.

Swell Brewery

Burgers and beers are one of life’s simple pleasures. Swell Beer in the heart of McLaren Vale is making waves, thanks to an extensive list of beers and burgers. Try their pulled pork burger, which pairs nicely with Swell Beer’s classic Golden Ale.

Penny Red Beer co

Located in The Range, Penny Red Beer is next door to Sew Sew winery and has created a space that is inviting all year round. With a cosy fireplace, this is a great location to enjoy a stout in winter. Their milk stout is perfectly creamy and would pair nicely with a steak and kidney pie.

Remember beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. As long as you’re holding a beer, life is beautiful.
